The Search for Life in Outer Space

Make plans to join us for a free public talk given by Dr. Bonnie Buratti, an astronomer at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the 2018 winner of the Carl Sagan Medal for Excellence in Public Communication in Planetary Science.

Dr. Buratti is noted for conducting teachers' workshops, delivering popular public talks, and written work appearing in encyclopedias, blog posts, and a recently published book, Worlds Fantastic, Worlds Familiar. She brings personal anecdotes combined with clear explanations of science, accompanied by stunning images that bring science to the public.

A planetarium show and rooftop telescope viewing of the night sky will follow the talk at the Nielsen Physics Building.

The lecture is given in conjunction with the American Astronomical Society 50th annual meeting
