
Professor Witold Nazarewicz Elected IOP Fellow

The Institute of Physics in London has elected Professor Witold Nazarewicz
as an IOP fellow. Membership as a fellow is reserved for elite scientists
with notable achievements who have made outstanding contributions to the
field of physics. Dr. Nazarewicz is an eminently successful nuclear theorist
whose research focuses on the description of nuclei under extreme conditions.
He is a professor in the UT Physics Department and is also the Scientific
Director at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Holifield Radioactive Ion
Beam Facility. Since 1994 he is a fellow of the American Physical Society.
Dr. Nazarewicz is author or co-author of more than 225 research papers
and he is listed by ISI as among the most highly cited physicists.
The Institute of Physics is a leading international professional body
and learned society dedicated to advancing physics through scientific
publishing, setting professional standards, and promoting the field through
conferences and educational programs. IOP Fellows are known as corporate
members and therefore have the right to vote in institute elections.
