Physics Professor Witek Nazarewicz has added another literary component to his CV by accepting an appointment as Associate Editor of Reviews of Modern Physics. The three-year term begins November 1.
About half of the papers in RMP are invited, with most of the remaining contributions proposed by the authors with encouragement from the editors. RMP articles present the current status of a particular field or topic in physics, yet are written to be accessible to a broad range of physicists and graduate students. The physics of premelted ice and its geophysical consequences, for example, is one of the features in the most recent issue. Authors are typically scientists who have made important contributions to their respective fields and are therefore suited to offer a critical analysis of current research. As an associate editor, Dr. Nazarewicz will recruit and review articles in his specialty-nuclear physics. Among his esteemed colleagues on the editorial board are representatives from MIT, Caltech, Stanford, and Cambridge.
Witek Nazarewicz joined the UT physics faculty in 1991 and is also the scientific director of the Holifield Radioactive Ion Beam Facility at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He is the author or co-author of more than 280 research papers in refereed journals and he is listed by ISI among the most highly cited in physics.
