Dr. Joseph Fowler served as head of the ORNL Physics Division for many years. He co-authored an introductory physics book, "Fast Neutron Physics," with the help of Dr. Jerry Marion. Fowler and Marion donated the book royalties to the department, and the funds were used in part to establish an award recognizing outstanding achievement by a graduate student.
