MasteringPhysics is an online tutorial and problem management system that will allow you to do your homework online, with immediate feedback, and hints, if you need them. Instructions for using MasteringPhysics are below. A printable (pdf file) "Getting Started" guide is also available here.

There is a video orientation to MasteringPhysics available online. Go to http://www.aw-bc.com/orientation; You will find a "select a presentation" dialog box; use the arrow in the box to scroll down to MasteringPhysics. This will show you two links - the first is the orientation video; the second is a Powerpoint presentation that contains the information I've copied below.

Instructions

What you need to Register for MasteringPhysics

  • A student access code
  • A Course ID number (from your instructor): MPELSTON0001 for this course
  • Your Student ID number
  • A valid email address - it should be yours
  • Access to a computer and the Internet
  • How to purchase a MasteringPhysics access code

  • Purchase a new textbook/MasteringPhysics value pack
  • For this course only: see below
  • Purchase an access code online (Buy Now button)
  • Purchase a "stand alone" access card from your bookstore
  • How to Register

  • Go to www.masteringphysics.com
  • Click on the Register button under First Time User
  • Enter your Access Code, click Next under "No, I am a new user."
  • Follow the instructions to register
  • Upon logging in, enter your Instructor’s Course ID and Student ID (latter might be optional)
  • Because we are piloting MasteringPhysics for The University of Tennessee this semester, the publisher, Addison Wesley/Benjamin Cummings, has generously offered a free access code for those students who purchased a used textbook. The code(s) will be distributed in class. Those who purchased a new textbook should have gotten an access code kit with their book and should use that code.
