Chairs of Excellence
Leadership for the Future
The JIAM Chairs of Excellence program targets leadership in materials research at the University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Appointed from among the highest quality young and mid-career University of Tennessee faculty and Oak Ridge National Laboratory staff scientists, JIAM Chairs of Excellence have demonstrated an ability to integrate university and government laboratory research.
JIAM Chairs of Excellence are young and mid-career scientists and engineers with a level of research productivity and recognition equal to that of young Distinguished Scientists, Governor’s Chairs or an endowed chair. Only new or current JIAM members with an exceptionally high level of accomplishments are nominated, with preference for those with existing or new joint faculty appointments.
