Undergraduate Physics Advising News

Summer and Fall 2008 Registration
- Registration for Fall semester, 2008, opens on Monday, March 10. The exact time that you, individually, can first register will depend on your class standing, but those who will register first can do so as of March 10. You can learn your actual first registration date by logging into Circle Park Online (CPO) at https://cpo.utk.edu/CPOWeb/.
- The timetable of courses offered for Fall 2008 is scheduled to be released on Monday, February 25. This gives you 2 weeks to plan ahead. You can access the timetable via CPO.
- If you are interested in a summer semester or mini-term course, that timetable was released on February 18 and that registration period will open on March 3.
- If your student ID (000 2x xxxY) ends in an odd digit (Y), you must visit your advisor and be cleared to register first. (Even digit Y's must be advised in the fall for spring registration.) This rule holds for students with more than 30 earned credit hours at UT. If you have not yet earned 30 hours of credit, you must be advised every semester regardless of your ID #. This is enforced via a software flag in the registration database, and your advisor will know how to get the flag cleared for you to register.
Graduation Deadlines
- The deadline to apply to graduate at the end of Fall Semester, 2008 (in December) is the last day of classes this (Spring, 2008) semester.
- The deadline to apply to graduate at the end of Spring Semester, 2009 (in May, 2009) is the last day of classes this Summer, 2008 semester.
- There are other deadlines that occur after you have applied to graduate. See http://registrar.tennessee.edu/graduation/undergraduate/ug_deadlines.shtml for more details.
Other Advising Information
- Independent of the rules, you are encouraged to visit your advisor at least once per semester, even if it is only to say hello and that you're doing well and having no problems at all. We genuinely want to know you and your goals and aspirations, and to be available to give career as well as academic advice.
- If you do not know or remember who your advisor is, feel free to contact Dr. Stuart Elston (selston@utk.edu or Nielsen 515) or Joyce Satterfield (jsatter2@utk.edu or Nielsen 401).
