Undergraduate Life

Undergraduate students play an important part in the life of the physics department. The Society of Physics Students organizes cookouts and the annual spring picnic and provides physics demos for the academic showcase each year at homecoming. Undergraduates have a lounge on the sixth floor of the Nielsen Physics Building where they can study, hang out, or catch a nap between classes. Students can work for the department helping with lab set-up or taking shifts in the department's tutorial center. They also have a say in departmental matters via the undergraduate student liaison committee, which meets with the department head to address issues of particular importance to undergraduates.
